Welcome to
Cedars Low Fell
Cedars: Low Fell is a specialist provision for children and young people with complex learning needs. We support pupils from Reception to Year 13 who have a range of needs including autism, severe learning difficulties, and associated communication and sensory differences.
All of our pupils are working before or within the earliest stages of the National Curriculum, and require a highly personalised approach to learning. Many are developing their own ways to communicate and benefit from a calm, predictable environment that supports their wellbeing, regulation, and engagement.
Our curriculum is sensory, therapeutic, and play-based, designed to reflect how our pupils learn - not just what they learn. Relationships, emotional wellbeing, communication, engagement and independence are at the heart of everything we do.
Learning is delivered through four developmental pathways, matched to each pupil’s stage of development rather than age. These pathways provide the right level of support and challenge to ensure that all students make meaningful progress.
Communication, early literacy, and numeracy underpin all areas and are embedded in daily routines, real-life learning, and total communication approaches.
Each curriculum is carefully personalised in partnership with families, therapists, and our wider support team. Together, we provide a nurturing, engaging, and aspirational environment where every child can thrive in their own unique way.
Our sister site, Cedars: High Heworth, offers a specialist setting for students from Year 7 to Year 13 who are ready to access a broad, subject-based National Curriculum with high levels of scaffolding and structure.
Cedars: Low Fell and Cedars: High Heworth are both part of Cedars Academy Trust.
